During this campaign we highlighted the need to move beyond the failed politics of the past and bring some new ideas and new energy to Congress. We talked about innovative ways to create more jobs, protect Medicare and Social Security, inject some fiscal sanity into Washington, DC, and prepare the next generation for the jobs of the 21st century.
I have decided to suspend my campaign for Congress in New Hampshire's 1st Congressional district because I believe I can best serve Granite Staters by focusing my energy and efforts to help elect Democratic candidates up and down the ticket. We need new leadership in Concord as well as in Washington, and I look forward to working with Democratic leaders across the state to end the reckless assaults on women, labor, small businesses, and working families.
I am proud of the organization we built, and of the support that continues to pour in from around the state. The people I met, the issues we discussed, and the stories I heard will stay with me and be a part of what comes next. This campaign has never been about me, or even about one seat in Congress. It has always been about putting New Hampshire first, and that's what I will continue to do.
Sincerely,
